Day 19 – 19th January Saint Wulstan (1008-1095)

St Wulstan was a Benedictine Monk at the Cathedral in Worcester where he then became Prior. In 1062 he was made Bishop of Worcester and was the first Bishop to make systematic visits to his diocese. St Wulstan was well known for his generosity to the poor. He encouraged the building of churches and was very insistent on stone altars rather than wooden. He died at the age of 87.
