Day 74 – 15th March: St Richard Gwyn (1537-1584) Feast Day 16th October

St Richard was born at Llandiloes in Montgomeryshired, Wales. He was well educated, studying at Cambridge and Oxford and he went on to become a schoolmaster in Wales. St Richard married and had six children; he was later arrested for being Catholic. He was hung drawn and quartered in 1584 and was considered the protomartyr of Wales.

Almighty God,

we give thanks for the life of

St Richard Gwyn and are moved by

his bravery to stand up for his faith

and the Catholic Church.

We pray that we too can be inspired,

by his mission to become disciples of our time.

We ask this through Christ your Son, Our Lord.

Amen

St Richard Gwyn… Pray for us.
