When a man feels they have a call to the priesthood, they enter a seminary. The process of formation for the priesthood normally takes six years, during which time the seminarians live in a community of formation built around prayer and study. But what is life in seminary actually like? This short video interviews men at Oscott College near Birmingham, who openly describe their experiences and lifestyle as seminarians.
Niall, a seminarian for the Diocese of Portsmouth, tells us his vocation story in this short video. When Niall started to feel the pull to the priesthood he initially put it to one side thinking it’d pass. But the feeling kept growing and growing. “I had a chat with a priest and he said ‘I’m sorry Niall, but I think you need to take this seriously and see where the Lord leads you’. The Lord never leads you down a dead end. No matter where He leads you it’ll always be fruitful.” Niall is now three years into his seven-year formation process.
