Vocations Day on the Isle of Wight
In celebration of the Year of Consecrated Life, the religious and deputy heads of some Catholic Primary schools on the Isle of Wight organised a vocations day for Year 6 Children from four Island Catholic Primary Schools. St Saviour’s, St Mary’s, St Thomas of Canterbury and Holy Cross schools converged at Quarr Abbey to spend the day exploring Vocation.
The children had opportunities to meet members of different communities including Fr Xavier Perrin from Quarr Abbey, Sr Margarida from Verbum Dei and Sr Benedicta, a Hermit. They shared their own faith journeys and callings by inviting the children to go to three short workshops: one exploring contemplative life, the other apostolic life and finally experiencing prayer.
The day finished with a liturgy with participation from the children in the beautiful Abbey church. It was an inspiring day for the children, for the accompanying teachers, as well as for the religious.
