The Statistics below were collected at the request of the Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales jointly by:

The National Office for Vocation of the Bishops’ Conference and the Conference for Religious (England and Wales.)
The statistics and Annual Reports were compiled from returns received from all the Major Seminaries, from the Directors of Vocations to the Priesthood and the Permanent Diaconate, from the Secular Institutes and from many of the Institutes of Consecrated Life represented in England and Wales.

The statistics for Clerical Institutes do not distinguish between those entering with the intention of eventually responding to a call to ordination and those entering in order to follow the call to an un-ordained ministry within the Institute.
