Tom's Journey

"Along the river, on either
bank, will grow every kind
of fruit tree with leaves that
never wither and fruit that
never fails; they will bear
new fruit every month,
because this water comes
from the sanctuary.
And their fruit will be
good to eat and the
leaves medicinal"

Ez 27:12

"On the launch of your website I have paid a visit. It is good to show that vocation has a wider meaning. If we only limit vocation to clergy and to other forms of religious life, we tend to overlook the vocation of, for instance a G.P., and other professions where we can speak about vocation. But I understand that we have to see vocation in the context of this website as a vocation of members of the Body of Christ. Yes, certainly I have also my vocation in this sense.

First I have studied myself in a seminary during my time in The Netherlands. I did not materialise to the priesthood. However, I have my religious links as a Benedictine Oblate. And a miracle that happened to me on Epiphany of A.D. 2001 (the healing of arthritis pain during the Mass) that made life more bearable for me, gave me more reasons to live my Catholic life.

Even so that I was prompted to dedicate my life in the way, how I already had lived all these years for my Saviour who effected this miracle. In this sense I have officially made my Vow of Celibacy on the Feast of St Peter and St Paul A.D. 2002, in this way completing a way of life that I already lived with the official Vow. I believe, that the Vow is not only restricted to priests but to any other Christian who feels called to a Celibate life as written about by the Apostle St Paul in the 7th chapter of his first letter to the Corinthians.

This Vow was also taken by another who was not in Holy Orders who will be beatified by the Pope on the 22nd of June in Banja Luka in Bosnia Herzegovina during the Pope's visit there the Blessed to be, Ivan Merz in his birth place. I read about this on the website of Dutch Catholic Church

This was my share to your website about vocation."
