100 Days of Prayer
Prayers for Week 4
Lord, we bring our prayer requests before you today.
We give you anyone who is on our hearts
and minds today and ask you to bless them with all that they need this week.
Help us to trust you more and know with confidence
that you hear every prayer of ours. Amen

St Edmund Gennings was born in Lichfield Staffordshire. He converted to Catholicism and went then went to seminary at the English College in Remis, in 1584. He was ordained in 1590 and travelled back to England. On the 7th November 1591, St Edmund was found celebrating Mass with St Polydore Plasden at the house of St Swithun Wells in Grays Inn, London and was arrested. He was executed on the 10th December outside the same house.
Almighty God, we give thanks for the inspiration
of St Edmund Gennings and his life.
We pray for courage to always stand up for the Faith.
We pray for all our Priests in England and Wales,
And the work they undertake each day
to bring us the Sacraments.
We make this prayer through Christ, Your Son, Our Lord.

St Polydore Plasden (1563-1591) Priest and Martyr. Feast Day 10th December.
St Polydore (alias Oliver Palmer) was born in London and educated at the English College in Remis and also Rome where he was ordained a Priest in 1586. He ministered in Sussex and London from 1588 to 1591 where he was arrested with St Edmund Gennings, who was reflected on yesterday, for saying Mass. He was executed the same day as Gennings on the the 10th December 1591.
Dear Lord, as we reflect on
St Polydore Plasden,
we pray in thanksgiving for his mission
here on earth as a Priest.
We look upon his bravery shown,
serving the people in his community,
even at the time of persecution.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Saint Polydore Plasden… Pray for us.
As we find ourselves in this season of ordinary time,
Lord, be with us once again
and help us to seek your presence in our daily lives.
Help us to live out our “call to holiness” every day,
that in our words, thoughts and deeds,
we may show your face to those we encounter
in the ordinary and everyday.
Lord Jesus, be with us as we start this week.
Help us to see your goodness and beauty
in those around us,
and throughout our Monday today.
Help us to be kind and generous
to those we encounter this week
and seek for more ways to love
and serve you today.
Dear Lord, We thank you for this moment of prayer
and stillness within our day. Give us the wisdom and courage,
to reach out to those around us seeking help at the present time.
At the end of this Tuesday, once the day is done,
let us give thanks to you, for the blessings we have in our lives.
We make this prayer through Christ our Lord.
St Paulinus of York (d.644) Monk and Bishop. Feast Day 10th October.
St Paulinus was sent to England by St Gregory the Great in 602. He worked for some time in Kent. Paulinus accompanied St Ethelburga to Northumbria where he converted many people to the Church. The success of his mission was recognised by Pope Honorius and he appointed him Archbishop of York. After some time he returned to Kent and became Bishop of Rochester and he stayed there until his death in 644.
Almighty God, we give thanks for the mission of
St Paulinus of York and the work he did to convert people to you.
We pray that we too can be inspired,
by his mission to become disciples of our time.
We ask this through Christ your Son, Our Lord.
