An initiative to encourage older men to think about the possibility of a vocation to the Roman Catholic priesthood or religious life is taking place in September next year.

The Beda College in Rome, together with St Beuno’s Spirituality Centre in north Wales, have organised the weekend 14-16 September 2018 for men between the ages of 30 and 55 who want to discern whether God may be calling them to Catholic priesthood. The Beda College in Rome, a seminary specifically for men in this age range, is under the auspices of the Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales. St Beuno’s Spirituality Centre in north Wales specialises in Ignatian retreats and is part of the British Province of the Jesuits.

Mgr Peter Verity, Spiritual Director at the Beda College, explained, “Sometimes the students who come to us say that they had considered a vocation to priesthood when they were younger but then life events had taken them on a different path. However the desire to see if God is calling them to priesthood has never gone away and later in life they feel the urge to explore this further”.

While the primary focus of the weekend is the possibility of priestly vocation in later life, it is also suitable for men not specifically considering priesthood as it is not presumed that any major choice or commitment will be made during this time.

The beautiful setting of St Beuno’s in the Clwyd Valley will provide a prayerful environment for reflection and for discernment about future choices.

There are a limited number of places for the weekend and early booking is recommended. Full details and a booking form can be downloaded at:
